Adolph White Jr.

I build custom software and connect the systems behind it. When you work with MGV, you work directly with me.

I founded Mastermind Group Ventures in 2017. The work here draws on more than twenty years connecting the systems and teams behind Capital One's contact centers, alongside current AI-assisted engineering work.

Selected engineering record

Work that shows how I approach complicated systems.

01Enterprise delivery

Six contact centers

I led the contact-center integration work following Capital One's acquisition of HSBC's U.S. credit-card portfolio, coordinating network replacement, firewall changes, desktop migration, and hardware upgrades across six acquired sites.

From roughly 4,000 rules to 30

By reorganizing network addresses and using network address translation, the integration reduced the required firewall rules from roughly 4,000 to 30.

02Current engineering

DNA Health Insights

An MGV-built educational application that brings genetic findings, plain-language explanations, and reports into one place so people can understand their results and return to saved information.

The MGV Gateway

A governed AI delivery capability that gives agents defined jobs, controls what each job can change, records the result, and keeps release decisions with a human owner.

Current work

Direct collaboration, from decision to delivery.

Career background

Seeing the system, not just one team's part.

At Capital One, my work covered contact-center systems, network design, architecture, and the security rules that let applications and voice services connect. Company-owned and supplier-operated sites had to work together so customers could reach the people they needed.

That meant working with network providers, technology teams, suppliers, and the people running the call centers. A change could work for one team and still cause a problem for another. My part was to bring those dependencies into view and help the teams agree on a plan they could carry out and support.

The Capital One experience described here was gained as an employee, not through an MGV customer engagement.

Selected enterprise work

Complex work, made workable for the people who had to run it.

Making a multi-site integration usable.

Following Capital One's acquisition of HSBC's U.S. credit-card portfolio, I was the lead integration architect for the contact-center work. The work included network replacement, firewall changes, desktop migration, and hardware upgrades across six acquired sites.

We brought the technology and operations teams together around a shared Master Execution Plan. Each team needed to know what would change, when it would happen, and how its work affected the others.

By reorganizing network addresses and using network address translation, we reduced the required firewall rules from roughly 4,000 to 30. That left a simpler environment for the teams to manage and change.

A security pattern others could reuse.

As telephony integration lead for Capital One's Amazon Connect rollout, I worked with cloud engineering and information security on a different way to separate access to cloud-stored data. Traditional firewall separation was not available, so the design used storage policies.

The work had to address Payment Card Industry (PCI) requirements. The PCI office adopted the resulting policy approach as a reference for later work.

I also created end-to-end diagrams connecting the phone systems, call centers, networks, firewalls, and cloud services. They gave the teams one shared picture to use during delivery and afterward.

Recognition

Circle of Excellence.

Circle of Excellence is Capital One's highest internal honor. I was part of teams recognized in 2009 and 2017. These photographs show the colleagues who shared in that achievement.

Before Capital One, I served in the United States Navy and trained as a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. I was a member of the Silent Drill Team.

We performed coordinated rifle movements without spoken commands. Each person's timing depended on the others. Preparation was individual; the performance belonged to the team.
